I often ask the participants during my session on
motivation and wellness as to what they mean by the ASK factor and its
significance to ensure better results in their exams as well as in their
day-to-day life.
The reputed American author and motivational
speaker Zig Ziglar says, "Your Attitude, not Aptitude, will determine
your Altitude." This opinion is vindicated by Oprah Winfrey,
world famous talk show host, actress and producer, by saying, "The
greatest discovery of all times is that a person can change his future by
merely changing his attitude." There are millions of real life stories
which tell very loudly and convincingly how the right attitude changed the
whole course of lives for betterment and prosperity. Swami
Vivekananda also tells, "It is our mental Attitude which makes the
world what it is for us..." To say, the right attitude makes your
personality better and your life even better.
"A winner is someone who recognizes his
God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into Skills and uses
these skills to accomplish his goals" - says Larry Bird, the
well-known American Basketball player and coach. Rightly, without the matching
skills which, of course is the outcome of regular learning/training exercise,
nobody can achieve the desired success despite having other personality
development inputs. It’s a continuous and dynamic process which provides the
on-going opportunity for self-evaluation and competence improvement for
achievement of professional excellence - the buzzword in the corporate world everywhere.
Will Smith says that talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by
hours and hours of beating on your craft. So, skill is necessary for all – both
male and female. Those who become adept, definitely achieve their goal.
You might have watched the popular TV show, "KBC - Kaun Banega Karorepati." The Ads
that normally take frequent rounds in various channels during that period used
to re-emphasize in a very creative way the importance of Knowledge - the
differentiating factor in everybody's life. Francis Bacon, the renowned
English Author and Philosopher, thus said long ago, “Knowledge is Power."
Everywhere in the job market - public sector and private sector alike, we hear
that we need knowledge workers. Undoubtedly, acquiring knowledge to become wise
is the guarantee to dispel mental darkness which in turn facilitates
consolidation of human values in our life for the good of each one of us.
Hence, it is necessary to always keep it in mind that knowledge ensures name,
fame and what not.
So, by now, you could make out what I intended to convey through this piece of
writing. Yes, you are perfectly right. The combined effect of right Attitude, Skill, and Knowledge (ASK) has been
pleasantly phenomenal in the life of all those who value its multi-dimensional
character.
As always, I'm keen to know what you think on this subject. Hence, request you to post comments to share your views and experiences.
